Nature & Outdoors
Broken Bow sits where the Ouachita Mountains meet the Coastal Plain. Broken Bow Lake covers 14,000 acres with 180 miles of shoreline. The Mountain Fork River runs crystal-clear year-round, fed from the bottom of the dam where temperatures hold in the 50s even in August. Beavers Bend State Park wraps it all in 3,400+ acres of pine and hardwood forest. This is why you came.

On Foot
Beavers Bend State Park has trails for every level — from 20-minute nature walks to full-day backcountry scrambles. Download the offline AllTrails map before you arrive; cell service is unreliable on most trails and markings can be sparse on the longer routes.
On the Water
The water is the main event in Broken Bow. The lake is enormous, the river is year-round cold and clear, and the fishing is some of the best in the Southern U.S. Here's how to get on it.
Adventure
Trail prep: Cell service is unreliable on most trails and in the forest. Download offline maps (AllTrails and Avenza) before you arrive. Bring plenty of water, bug spray (spring through fall), and real hiking shoes for anything beyond the Nature Center trails. The trails can be muddy after rain and markings are sparse on the longer routes.
