About Haute Vie

Built by an Engineer.
Run Like a Brand.

Haute Vie isn't a typical cabin rental company. It started with a simple question: what would happen if you applied 30 years of large-scale software optimization to the short-term rental industry? The answer is a luxury cabin brand that outperforms its market in every state it operates in.

The Origin Story

From Cloud Infrastructure to Cabin Revenue

Before Haute Vie existed, there was a 30-year career at one of the world's most recognized technology companies. The work was building and optimizing large-scale software systems in the cloud — collaborating with teams at AWS, Meta, Twitter, Airbnb, and others. Every day, the job was the same fundamental question: how do you squeeze maximum performance from every resource in a complex system?

That mindset doesn't turn off when you leave the office. When we bought our first vacation rental, we saw the same inefficiencies we'd spent decades solving in software — pricing left on the table, listings that underperformed their potential, operations that leaked money at every turn. Most property managers treated cabins like a volume business. We saw each one as a system to optimize.

So we built Haute Vie around a different thesis: fewer properties, more revenue from each one. It worked in our first market. Then the second. Then the third. Today we operate top-grossing cabins across six states, and every property in our portfolio outperforms its market by size class. The engineering discipline that scaled cloud infrastructure now scales cabin income.

Our Philosophy

We Don't Chase Volume. We Chase Perfection.

Walk into any Haute Vie cabin and you'll feel it immediately — something is different. The lighting isn't generic. The furniture wasn't ordered from a catalog. The linens aren't an afterthought. Every detail, from the way the kitchen is stocked to the angle of the deck chairs facing the treeline, has been considered.

That's not decorating. That's the same optimization discipline applied to the guest experience. Every touchpoint is a variable that affects reviews, repeat bookings, and revenue. The throw blanket on the sofa. The coffee brand in the cabinet. The playlist cued on the speaker. None of it is random.

The result is a brand that guests remember by name. They don't say "we stayed at a cabin in Broken Bow." They say "we stayed at a Haute Vie cabin." That distinction is worth everything — to guests, to owners, and to the long-term value of every property in our portfolio.

Haute Vie is French for "high life." It's not about excess — it's about elevation. Raising the standard of what a cabin stay can be, what a guest can expect, and what an owner can earn.

Six States. One Standard.

A National Perspective Rooted in Local Expertise

Most cabin companies know one market. We operate across six states — mountain cabins, lakefront properties, desert retreats, and forest getaways. That geographical diversity isn't about bragging rights. It's a competitive advantage.

When Broken Bow demand shifts, we can see whether it's a local anomaly or a national pattern because we're watching five other markets simultaneously. When a pricing strategy works in one region, we test it in another. When new STR regulations emerge in one state, we're already prepared because we've likely navigated something similar elsewhere.

For our Broken Bow owners, this means something no local-only manager can offer: decisions informed by the broader short-term rental market, not just what's happening on Highway 259. For our guests, it means a hospitality standard that's been refined across hundreds of properties and thousands of stays nationwide.

What We Believe

The Principles Behind Every Property, Every Stay, Every Decision

📐
Optimize, Don't Guess
Every decision is data-informed. From pricing to photo sequencing to amenity investments, we measure what works and do more of it. Intuition is useful. Evidence is better.
🔬
Fewer Properties, More Attention
We intentionally keep our portfolio small so every cabin gets the obsessive attention it deserves. Volume is someone else's game. Ours is performance per property.
🎯
Details Are Revenue
The throw pillow choice, the check-in message timing, the twilight photo angle — they all compound into higher ratings, better rankings, and more bookings. Nothing is too small to optimize.
🤝
Partnership, Not Management
We don't work for owners — we work with them. Your success is our success. Every recommendation we make is backed by data and aligned with your financial goals, not ours.
🏔️
Respect the Place
Broken Bow's charm is its authenticity — the pines, the quiet, the wildness. We design and operate our properties to complement that environment, not compete with it. Luxury should feel like it belongs here.
Earn Every Review
A 4.98 average across 1,200+ reviews isn't a number we protect — it's a standard we maintain. Every guest interaction, every turnover, every response time is part of that system. There are no shortcuts.

The Team

Small Team. Big Standards. Every Stay.

Haute Vie is run by a small, hands-on team where every person is directly involved in the guest experience and property performance. There's no middle management layer between you and the people who care about your stay — or your investment.

Eric and Kristen, Founders of Haute Vie
Eric
Founder & Owner
30+ years as a software engineer at a world-renowned tech company, collaborating with AWS, Meta, Twitter, Airbnb, and others to optimize large-scale systems in the cloud. That same engineering discipline now drives every aspect of Haute Vie — from dynamic pricing models and listing optimization to operational systems and guest experience design. Eric built the company on a contrarian bet: that treating each cabin as a system to maximize, rather than chasing volume, would produce better results. Top-grossing properties across six states later, the thesis holds.

Kristen
Creative Design
Kristen is the eye behind every Haute Vie interior. She understands that design isn't decoration — it's a revenue lever. The right furniture, color palette, and staging can mean the difference between a listing that gets scrolled past and one that gets booked at a premium. Kristen consults on everything from full property redesigns to small seasonal styling updates that keep listings fresh and photos compelling. Her work is what makes guests say "this looks even better than the pictures."

She coordinates housekeeping, handles maintenance issues, arranges concierge requests, and resolves problems before guests even realize there was one. The 4.98 rating? April is a huge part of that equation.

Deva
Operations Manager
Deva keeps the machine running. With a background in guest experience and short-term rental operations at high-end properties, she's the person making sure day-to-day execution actually matches the standard the listings promise — coordinating teams, tightening systems, and catching the small things before they become guest-facing problems. Detail-oriented, organized, and calm under pressure, Deva builds the behind-the-scenes infrastructure that lets everything else look effortless. When a stay goes flawlessly, it's usually because Deva already thought of it.
