Beavers Bend State Park

Beavers Bend is the outdoor heart of the area: pine-and-hardwood forest wrapped around the lake and the Mountain Fork River, with hiking, horseback riding, a zipline, a steam train, and the Forest Heritage Center, plus the nature center for families.
Trails range from a flat 1-mile river loop to the advanced 5-mile Skyline. Buy the vehicle parking pass online before you go - cell service drops inside the park. Spring and fall are the prettiest times to walk it.

14,000 Acres of Clear Water
The lake is the summer centerpiece - 14,000 acres of remarkably clear water, 180 miles of pine shoreline, quiet coves, designated swim beaches, and islands you can beach a pontoon on. Clean enough that scuba divers train here.
You don't need to own a boat: rent a pontoon or jet ski from the marina, paddle a kayak into a cove, or float the cold Mountain Fork below the dam. Reserve summer-weekend rentals well ahead.

The lake is the centerpiece: ~14,000 acres, 180 miles of pine shoreline, deep clear water, quiet coves, and islands you can beach a pontoon on. Clean enough that scuba divers train here - and you don't need to own a boat.
Fishing
Year-Round Fishing on Lake & River
Two very different fisheries in one trip. The Lower Mountain Fork below the dam is a year-round trout river - cold, clear, and stocked with rainbow and brown trout, with fly and spin water and guided float trips.
On Broken Bow Lake, it's largemouth and smallmouth bass, crappie, white bass, walleye, catfish, and bluegill. Get an Oklahoma license online, and add the trout stamp if you're fishing the river.

Fishing in Broken Bow
Broken Bow is two fisheries in one. The Lower Mountain Fork River below the dam is a nationally regarded year-round trout stream - a 12-mile designated trout area, barbless hooks only. And the lake itself is one of Oklahoma's best bass and crappie fisheries, with a rocky bottom that keeps the water gin-clear.
Best times: spring spawn for bass and crappie; winter is the sleeper season for uncrowded, aggressive trout. Licenses: everyone needs an Oklahoma license (trout coverage is now included); check current ODWC regs before keeping fish.
